Duane Mittens Sr Obituary

Duane Lee Mittens Sr., 56, passed away in Great Falls, MT on April 20, 2024. He was born to William Mittens and Arlene Champine on April 21, 1967 in Browning, MT. 

Duane spent his youth on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and was a proud member of the Blackfeet Tribe. During his childhood he spent time in Heart Butte, MT Badge, and Home Gun Ridge Ranch. 

Duane enlisted in the Army, and after he was out of the service he held various jobs. He worked as a cook and crew leader at Glacier Park Trails, ranch hand, training horses at Monte & Anne Foquke Ranch, and was a seasonal firefighter 

He loved riding horses and training horses, cruising around the rez, cook-outs, fishing, and basketball.

He is preceded in death by his son: Jeremiah J. Mittens; father: William Mittens; mother: Arlene Jo Champine; sister: Sherie Mittens and Jennifer CrossGuns.

He is survived by his children: Mallory R. Mittens, Kellen HomeGun, Duane Mittens Jr., Jessica Shell, Marcy Mittens, Mariah Posey, Rocky HomeGun, James Mittens, Paul Mittens, and Shawn Kuka; along wiht 16 grandchildren. Siblings: Shirley WestWolf, Dion Mittens, Dorean Pongah, Marilyn Trombley, Glenn SwimsUnder, and August SwinsUnder.
