Browning – Stanley Spotted Wolfe Sr., 74, passed away at IHS on August 25th, 2019.  

A member of the Blackfeet Tribe he was born August 31, 1944 in Browning to Joe Running Carne and Petronella Spotted Wolfe.  He was raised by his grandmother, Maggie Aimsback Spotted Wolfe. In the K- 8th grades, Stanley was educated by his Aunt Minnie Spotted Wolfe. He graduated from Browning High School in 1960 and attended Northern Montana College, Haskell Jr. College and then the University of New Mexico.  
He married Joanne Racine but they later divorced and in June 1971 he met his partner and best friend for life, Anita Chee.
Stan worked throughout his life at various  positions – Social Security office in San Francisco, CA; The flood program – 1963; construction jobs in Kansas, Albuquerque Indian School, NM; New Careers Program Billings, MT; BIA Social Services, Browning, MT.; and Blackfeet Social Services in Browning retiring in 2001.
Stan loved to watch basketball and his favorite players were Stan Jr., grandson Andrew Spotted Wolfe; State Class A Champion & Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors; Stan was proud of his sobriety which began on July 24th, 1979.
He was preceded in death by his parents joe Running Crane & petronella Spotted Wolfe; grandmother Maggie Aimsback Spotted Wolfe (who raised him); brother Garrett Running Crane; sisters Althea Tailfeathers and Darlene Spotted Bear.
Survivors include his life partner Anita Spotted Wolfe, Stan Jr., daughters Michelle, Patricia, Cheryl, Delores Lynn, and grandchildren Andrew, & Ashley; greatgrandchildren Courtney, Rachel, Ashdon, Angelina, Kaidais & Kendrick; siblings Glenn Running Crane, Oral Running Crane, Delma Vielle, Joanne Running Crane, and Ramona (Peanuts) Running Crane as well as many friends.

A wake was held at Glacier Homes and a funeral mass was hled at Little Flower Parish on Saturday August 31st.
