Pablo – Leona Mae (Plouffe) Harries, 75, passed away at her home in Pablo Friday morning.

A member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe, she was born in St. Ignatius on   March 27, 1937 to Charles & Annie (Sorrell) Plouffe.  Raised in St. Ignatius she was educated at the Urselines before moving to Puyallup, WA at 16.  At age 18, she married David Renz and they had two daughters.  Leona studied nursing at the UW and later she remarried to Ray Harries and they had a son.

Leona also worked at Boeing as a riveter.  An incredible athlete, she started playing softball in her thirties and was an all-star shortstop for the next twenty years.  She also was an avid bowler; water skied, was active in the dirtbike poker runs and enjoyed boating.

Leona eventually went to work with family and became a co-proprietor of the Showboat Tavern in Ruston, WA.  Living most of her life in Washington she moved back to Montana 5 years ago living with her daughter in Pablo.

She was preceded in death by husband David Renz; her parents; a nieces Linda Plouffe, Monica & Carol Shepard; nephews David Plouffe and Orton “Marvin” Sandberg; and siblings Judy & LeRoy Manning, Louise, Betty Lou, Bernard, Edward, and Ernie Plouffe.

Survivors include her children Karen Jo (James Bigby) Renz, Raymond Wolf (Erin) Harries, & Georgianna “Pepper” Harries; grandchildren Brandon Renz, Mackenzie Fortin, Tallon Fortin, Tyler Harries, Megan Harries and Cheyenne Roths; siblings Lillian Thomas and Cecil Pluff as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
