Flora YoungRunningCrane, 93, passed away at her home in Browning on July 1, 2018 after battling an illness for a long time.  She was born in Starr school, Montanan on September 1, 1924. She was an advocate for education, her interest was education. She attended several collages: Carol Collage in Helena, MT, University of Montana in Missoula, MT, and cooking school in Great Falls, MT. She also received her C.N.A. She went to Three Hill, New York where she attended Bible school and she was a travel evangelist. She also blessed a precious brother in the lord with a guitar, Chuck Upham.

She was a great asset in her cultural ways. Flora was a fluent speaker of the Blackfeet Language. She liked cooking traditional meals. Flora and Victor had great pride in their traditional way of life. They enjoyed dancing and they were very proud of their regalia. They traveled across the United States and Canada enjoying the pow-wow trail. Her hobbies were beading, sewing, making tamales, going to picnics, visiting relatives. She loved to get in her car and ravel anywhere she desired. She was involved in the AIM and very proud of it. She was involved in the Honorary Council and in the Crazy Dog Society.

Her employment history: she owned her own dry cleaners, she was a green thumb worker, hospital dietitian, and C.N.A., child protection, cook at the jail, Blackfeet community college, and wherever there was cultural events, she would be a part of it. She was involved in the local telecom media.

Survivors: Her son Victor Jr. and Mimi YoungRunningCrane. Grandchildren Twila and Shyla Eagle Plume Na-Pis-Stcuci, 15 great grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren. Shew raised Dewey Skunkcap, her grandson, Bianca Mountain Horse, her granddaughter, sisters Ellen No Runner, Barbara Kicking Woman, Lois Bird, and her best brother-in-law Wayne Bird, Audrey Sure Chief. Brothers: Floyde “Greasy” Takesgun. Plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased: Her husband Victor YoungRunningCrane, daughter Sandra YoungRunningCrane, her father Louis Plenty Treaty Bear Child, her mother Susie Heavy Runner Bear Child, her brothers Burton and Stewart Bear Child and Gordon Takes Gun, Sisters: Rosella Bear Child, Lorrain Guardipee, Jeannie Bear Child, Anna Marie Three Mountain and infant child. Grandchild Little White Elk. Maternal grandparents Chief Heavy Runner and Blue Bead. Mr. and Mrs. Healy from Canada.

She will be buried at the Takes Gun Cemetery in Starr School, Montana.
