Marvin Dale Heavy Runner Sr., 58, passed away at Missouri River Manor in Great Falls, MT, September 17, 2018. Marvin Dale Heavy Runner Sr. was born January 17, 1960 in Browning, MT to Alfred Heavy Runner & Gladys Old Rock. Marvin was the second oldest out of 7 children born to Alfred and Gladys. Marvin was raised on the Blackfeet Reservation. He grew up on Moccasin Flat, and later went to Flandreau Indian School, where he ran cross country, Marvin moved back to the Blackfeet Reservation, where met Iona Wells. They had four children and raised them in Heart Butte.

Marvin attended some school at the Blackfeet Collage, Firefighting, and Boxing in his younger days. He enjoyed playing stickgame, crossword puzzles, spot jobs for close friends, and chess. After Iona passed away in 2005 Marvin never re-married. Marvin loved Iona and he would always tell stories about the old days. Marvin always called his brother Carl Heavy Runner every morning and throughout the day, talking for hours. They were always checking on each other, it was a daily thing for them. Most of all, Marvin enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, whom he loved very much. He always told us to put God first in our lives, pray and forgive. He enjoyed visiting his siblings, close family, and friends. Marvin had the kindest heart and treated others good.

Marvin is survived by his children, Marvin Heavy Runner Jr. (Kids), Carmellia Heavy Runner (Kids), Viola Heavy Runner (Daughter), Kevin Heavy Runner (Son & Daughter), his brother Duane Heavy Runner, Carl Heavy Runner (Daughter), his sisters Cheryl Heavy Runner (Children), Mary Heavy Runner (Children), Eugene (Spud) Wells, Particia Heavy Runner & Jimmy Wells (Children).

Funeral Services September 22 &23rd 2018 at Collage Homes Community Center and September 24 & 25th at the Brown Building in Heart Butte, MT. Tuesday 25th at 2 PM will be services followed by a burial at St. Anne’s Cemetery, where Marvin will lay to rest by Iona Wells, niece Gena Wells, Eunice & Mickey Wells, his brother Charlie, Marvin’s Parents, & Grandparents, and other loved ones who have passed on.
