Sandra Yvonne Christopher, 65, passed away peacefully April 9, 2019 at her home in Harlem, Montana,

She was born Oct 20th 1953 in the Holy Family Hospital in St. Ignatius, MT to Donald “Chrissie” Christopher, a Norwegian cowboy and mill worker and Cecile “PeeWee” Vanderburg, a Salish racehorse jockey.  Sandy was known by many nicknames “Sandy Girl’, “My Girl”, “Tigger” and “Sandy Christopher Robin”, just to name a few.  She spent her toddler years in Missoula, Arlee, Valley Creek and Dixon with her two older sisters, foster and extended families and parents.  Her last residence was at the Horizon Unlimited in Harlem where she met her special friend who she considered her brother, Jeff the maintenance man.

She always kept busy with hobbies that included coloring, stringing beads and her own special style of tying precise knots in string reminiscent of her own form of macramé. Sandra was also very astute and adept at getting her point across, through her gentle demeanor, that often came with a mischievous smile, clear gestures, and an impish personality. She absolutely adored cake, a good cup of coffee, and spending quality time with friends and going for car rides. She loved getting her hair cut and having her nails painted. Sometimes when the light was just right, you could catch her making captivating shadows with her hands in the beautiful streaming sunlight.  She relished shopping trips and getting outfits that were well coordinated.  It was always very important to her that she had wonderful lotions and perfumes. Her favorite word to say was the word “Baby”.  She would often swing to daring heights, then later sit down to a dinner of crackers and soup. Her wicked sense of humor, went well with her affectionate nature. Her charming, buoyant personality was well expressed when she greeted friends with her signature “hi-five.”  She was quite simply adored by all who knew her.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and a younger brother, Randy Christopher, and grandparents Adeline Stevens-Vanderburg-Fyant,  John Vanderburg and Louie Fyant of Valley Creek fame, and Carl and Inga Christopher.
Survivors include siblings Linda Weaselhead (Keon), Diana Christopher – Cote, Guy Morrison, Vernon “Hungry” Christopher (Sharon), Dawn Wahl, and RaSena Christopher, as well as countless loving family members, nieces and nephews. This includes her aunty /mom Frances Vanderburg and great uncles Bobby Fyant and Gordon Fyant (Gale), her caretakers at Horizon Unlimited including Rowana Irvine and Marvin Healy, Patricia  “Tish”  Fernette and Jeff  and all her many close friends who thought of her as their dear sister.

A wake began Friday, April 10 at Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius moving to the Arlee Comm. Center. Rosary will be recited at 8 pm Sunday with closing start at 11 am in the Center on Monday. Mass and burial will follow in the Jocko Catholic Church. Shay u Hoy
