Bernita Goodell Obituary

Bernita May Goodell, lovingly known as "Mitty," was born on September 23, 1950, in Canyonville, Oregon, and passed away on February 10, 2025, in St. Ignatius, Montana.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Blevins of Seabeck, Washington, and Tina Rutz of Bend, Oregon; her grandsons, Kyler Rutz (Katelyn Rutz) and Joshua Blevins (Kimberly Baxley); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kamden, Tayden, and Reegan. She also leaves behind her siblings, Clarice (T.C.) DuMont, Lorene Mitchell, Lorie DuMont, Doug DuMont, Doran DuMont and Mike Graham; her sons-in-law, Jeff Hepworth and Jay Blevins; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mitty was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie Garcia and Derwin "Micky" DuMont; her brothers, Derwin "Dew" DuMont and Richard "Dick" Moulton; and the love of her life, Alan Mann. She and Alan shared 33 wonderful years together, embracing life's adventures through camping, music, dancing, and running The Taco Shack in Ronan after traveling to powwows with their concession trailer. No matter where they were, their happiness was found in each other's company.

Mitty had a passion for bingo and casino trips-where she had an uncanny knack for winning-and she found joy in making Easter baskets to brighten the community. She spent much of her working life as a waitress and bartender, always bringing warmth to those around her. A talented cook with a generous heart, she could prepare meals fit for an army.

She will be remembered for the love she shared so freely, her unforgettable hugs, and a smile that could light up any room. Her free spirit touched everyone who knew her. May she keep dancing with Al until the rest of us join them on that dance floor someday.
