Betty VanDorn Obituary

Betty Jean Orr VanDorn: Betty, who quietly passed away on January 5, 2025 in Missoula, MT, was born in St. Ignatius, MT in July 1948 to Ray (Buster) Orr and Rose Soucie Orr, their second child and first daughter. She was born to the Selis-Qlispe people of the Flathead Reservation. Educated at the public schools in St. Ignatius, MT. She worked for many years at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson, MT; and at Community Hospital in Missoula, MT.

 

Betty was married to Forest VanDorn, formerly of Ronan, MT. They had four children: Tami Rae Votendahl (deceased), Mikel John (Cyndy) of Lolo, MT.; Denis Eugene (Angela) of Battle Mountain, NV; and Carrie Ann Allum (Gerry) of Selah, WA. Betty has three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

 

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Tami and her brother Thomas Orr. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Orr, Norfolk, VA and her sister Donna Orr, St. Ignatius, MT and by her niece Krista Ness (Ed), St. Ignatius, MT, and their children and grandchildren.

 

After suffering a severe stroke, Betty lived for many years at The Village Health Community in Missoula, Mt. Betty's family is thankful for the wonderful staff at Village Health who provided her with the years of special care she needed and received. They provided Betty with the professional safety, support and friendship that got her through a long and trying disability.

 

Cremation services provided by Foster Funeral Home, St. Ignatius. The family will host a memorial service in the early summer.
