Bryon Butterfly Obituary

Bryon Curtis "Holy Mink" Butterfly, 37 of Browning and Pablo, Montana, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 1, 1987, Kalispell, Montana, raised in Missoula and Browning, Montana. 

Bryon dedicated his life to his children, family, and he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Bryon "Holy Mink" Butterfly proudly served in The Quartermaster Corp Regiment, United States Army from 2006 to 2010, achieving the rank of Specialist. His military career took him to be deployed to the Iraq war from 2008-2009, an Imminent Danger Area. He earned commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his Country and Pride in his Blackfeet Heritage was unwavering. He continued to serve in the National Guard, Gallup, NM, and Missoula, MT from 2009-2010. He was medically classified as a Disabled Iraq War Veteran, from there he focused on his health, family and travel.

Bryon loved to fish with his dad and children, spend time with other family members, going to the park and playing with his children, and enjoyed sharing stories of his children, especially his sons Kevin and Kolton who made him laugh with their antics and the things they would say. Bryon had a close bond with his daughter Hailey. She was the light of his life. He was a hands-on father and loved it. He enjoyed being a part of Ellie and Jaycee lives, helping them to learn and grow. His nieces Sidney and Sadie loved and cherished him and very much were a large part of his life along with his children.

Bryon is surviwed by his parents. Glenn and Paulette Butterfly, sister Kimberly Butterfly, children, Hailey, Kevin and Kolton Butterfly and nieces Sidney and Sadie Rider. Maternal grandmother Mary Lorraine Reevis Whitegrass, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service to honor Bryon "Holy Mink" Curtis Butterfly's life and service will be held at Glacier Homes Community Center, Browning, MT, on Sunday March 2-6, 2025. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside at Willow Creek Cemetery, Browning, MT.
