Charlotte Hunter Obituary

Charlotte Marcella Hunter was born on December 22, 1953 in Saint Ignatius, Montana.  She grew up in Missoula and Saint Ignatius.  She passed on July 3, 2024 with family by her side where she joined her parents: Eldena Belmore-Hunter and Chuck Hunter, Jr; siblings: Gordon Hunter, Leanne Matt, Ron Hunter, and Hobie Hunter; and nephews Steve Bonner and John Matt and many other relatives.

She was a loving, caring, prayerful mother to all.  Char adopted Joseph Emanual Hunter and raised him along with Dante and Darius McDougall and, for a period of time, Levi and Isaac Alexander. She is survived by her final sibling, Kenneth Hunter and Suzi Hunter, and lots of nieces and nephews:  Michelle Matt:  Arianna Matt – LaDanian and Laila, Jon Matt; Shade and Sierra Stevens: Raven, Kanyon Stevens; Jori Hunter Alire:  Caleb and Angelique; Brittney and Eli Shaw:  Malakai, Darius, and Silas; Michael and Hannah Graham:  Zariah, Brixton, and Jeremiah; Jericho Hunter:  Mystica and Shahae; and Charles Hunter; Eldena Bear Don’t Walk:  Rosie. Dear friends and relatives: Carol Lankford; Willie & Patty Stevens; Bob & Kelly Woodcock; Sister/Cousin Eva & Reed Anderson; Gigi and Curtis Yazzie.    She, also, proudly boasted of her grandson, Jahleel Buck. She greatly loved her friends, Dorinda Buck and Lamoine Hendrickson.

She went to Haskell Indian Nations and Montana State University for nursing.  She was a Community Health Representative worker for Tribal Health for over 40 years.  She was instrumental in providing compassionate care to many tribal members.

She was the sunshine behind the rainbow! She did amazing quillwork and loved beadwork. She loved to take kids on road trips and adventures like trips to Silverwood, Mission Dam, or anywhere that would make kids happy.  She always put everyone before herself. She loved to have family campouts.  She was one of the most caring and compassionate people and devout in her faith.  As Jericho stated, “She loved you even if you broke three of her toes!” She always had a smile, a hug and good words for all the people she met.
