Dawn Winona Rutherford

Dawn Winona Rutherford, lovingly known for her warmth, strength, and devotion to family and community, passed away on January 15, 2026, in East Glacier Park, MT. She was born on November 21, 1955, in Granite City, Illinois, to Louise Todd and Cletus Running Wolf.
Dawn dedicated over 30 years of her life serving others as an EMT with Blackfeet EMS. Her commitment to helping those in need reflected her compassionate heart and steady presence. Qualities that defined her both professionally and personally. In her later years, Dawn embraced her role as a homemaker and cherished being a a wife & grandmother, finding joy in the everyday moments spent with family.
She especially loved cooking for those she cared about, shopping, and outings with her husband, as well as being a devoted cat and dog mom. Dawn’s home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
Dawn is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Humphrey Rutherford, who was her partner and constant companion. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister, Elaine Radasa and Cletus Running Wolf Jr, her brother in law and sister in laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Todd and Cletus Running Wolf, and by her sister June Running Wolf.
Wake services will be held at the Eagle Shields Building in Browning on Monday, January 19 2026. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Mass at Little Flower Parish Thursday, January 22, at 2:00p.m., burial will follow at the Willow Creek Cemetery
Dawn will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, service, and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her.
