Our beloved brother Derrick Lozeau-Gibbs, born August 25, 1975, has gone home to meet our creator. Derrick was a dedicated brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and much more to all his family with nieces, nephews, friends, and the community; through his fire fighting career with Ronan/Pablo fire district. He was dedicated to helping others. Derrick had a great love for his family, friends and line in general.
Derrick was especially dedicated to his children: Chino Rodriguez, "Mister" Derrick Gibbs Jr., Keykem Lozeau, and Elijah Lozeau; and step children: Tracy Grendahl and Delcey Grendahl.
Derrick was a beloved grandfather to his grandkids: Christine Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez, Bella-Marie Rodriguez, and Isiah Rodriguez, Aliah Camrud, Ethan Camrud, Leyle Camrud.
Derrick is survived by his siblings: Serena Cook, James Logan, Sharon Marker, Rosanna Logan, and Maria Jackson.
He is preceded in death by his family who welcome him home, siblings: Julie Green, Ester Logan, Charles Logan; mother: Christine Lozeau; uncle: Pat Lozeau; and mother figure Kathy Gibbs.
Derrick was an active volunteer with the Ronan/Pablo fire district. He was always willing to help others in their times of need. He was also an active member with AIM. Derrick and James even started the AIM chapter in Portland, Oregon.
Derrick loved his Native American culture with his singing and drumming and actively participating in the annual Sundance, or just enjoying family members in the backyard with a bon fire and drumming on logs and singing loud and proud as he could.
Derrick touched a lot of people's lives in his time here, and I want to thank everyone, friends, family, the Tribe, and the community as a whole, who have been there for Derrick and his family these past 2 years in his continued health struggles that eventually won even though Derrick continued to fight his health battle with strength and dignity not ever giving up.
Special thanks to fire district # 29 for their continued support with Derrick's family. Derrick will truly be missed and was very much loved by many.
