Erwin Hilliard Obituary

Erwin Lee Hilliard was born on March 17, 1955.  The fourth son born to Elroy Clayton and Mabel Ann (Oien) Hilliard in Fort Hood, Texas. With his dad in the Army he soon moved to Frankfurt, Germany.  In 1959 the family moved to Skiddy, (White City) Kansas.  The family remained in Skiddy until 1969, then moved to Lakota, North Dakota where Erwin attended Lakota High school, graduating in 1973.  While he lived in Kansas, he learned to love the outdoors, fishing and swimming in the local creeks and streams, participating in scouts, playing baseball, football, running, and hunting with his brothers.

Erwin was a person of many interests.  He had a passion for work.
Working was his hobby.  He worked at the concrete plant, oil field, and saw mill. He loved to travel, and combined his two favorite hobbies into the seat of several semi-trucks.

On September 3, 1983 he married Elaine in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity.  They have four children. Clint, Heidi, Travis and Ollecka.  Erwin loved his friends, his family and the Lord.

He was also an avid football lover and a fan of coke, Twinkie’s and cheese puffs. He was known for his optimism, his jolly laugh, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Erwin was preceded in death by his father, Elroy, his mother, Mabel, his brother Dennis, his sister in-law Beth and brothers in law Brad and Will and his grandson Ivan.  He is survived by his wife Elaine, his children, Clint (Ashley) Hilliard, Heidi (Alan) Green, Travis (Samatha) Hilliard, and Ollecka (Enoch) Barnhill, and 11 grandchildren.  His sister in-law Linda Hilliard, his siblings Steve (Sandy)  Elton “his older twin”, Marvin (Debbie), Linda Atherton, Larry (Vicki), Lorraine Larson (JR), Wayne, Earl (Laura), David (Dinah), Aunt Marion and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services were held on Nov. 12, 2021 at the St. Ignatius Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Burial followed in the Pleasantview Cemetery
