Florence Nadine Hayden

St. Ignatius- Florence Hayden, 88, passed away on October 29, 2023. She was born October 1, 1935 to Frank and Pauline Knopp in Pablo, MT. Florence spent her youth on a ranch south of Ronan where she was 1 of 6 children. Horses were the center of her life. She had a gift for training horses and she spent a lifetime competing on horses. She earned countless awards and titles in various disciplines of equine competition, from rodeo & Omoksees to large shows throughout the Northwest United Sates.

Florence worked from home, training horses. She also worked retail in Western Wear / Tack stores and briefly in advertising. She was an accomplished sketch artist, seamstress, and musician. Her and her husband, Sam Hayden, played music together and also with several groups of friends. Their music created joy and dancing for many.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R and four siblings,  Glen, Frank, Esther and Thelma.

Florence is survived by her aging horse, Lynx, daughter Tammy Hayden (Gordon Eye) of St. Ignatius, sister Joy DeRosier and sister-in-law Marrian Knopp.
