St. Igmatius – George John Ivanoff, 97, passed away at his home in St.
Ignatius on August 21st.
Born June 10, 1924 in Bonner to Nick & Ruby Ivanoff. He was raised in the Jocko Valley. On July 2, 1944 he married on his wife Ada May Evans
from St. Ignatius and he served in the US Army during WWII. Following
WWII, he worked on dams and in the woods before settling in Kelso, WA for 25 years and working for Reynolds Aluminum Company at Longview, WA , retiring in 1986. Following Kelso he returned to St. Ignatius and worked around the St. Ignatius Catholic Mission.
His wife Ada passed away on July 13, 1992 He was also preceded in death by a son Richard in 2014.
Survivors include his children George Steven Ivanoff, Robert John Ivanoff, Donald Roy Ivanoff, & Ronald Ray Ivanoff.
A visitation will be held Tuesday evening (tonight) at the Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius with Mass being celebrated at 11 am Wednesday at the St. Ignatius Catholic Mission. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery where military honors will be presented.
