Gilbert Maughan

On Thursday February 5th, 2026, Gilbert L. Maughan passed away at the young age of 43 years old due to complications of an illness at St. Patricks hospital surrounded by his family and friends. Gil was born September 7th, 1982, in St. Ignatius, Montana to Ed and LaReta Maughan. He grew up in Ronan, MT and graduated from Ronan High School in June 2000. He reached the highest level of boy scouts and received his eagle scout award. Gil was the youngest of 5 and oh so stubborn but so very loved. One could say he lived his life on his own terms, somewhat fast and furious. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Gil was the very best uncle, and he took that job very seriously.  Gilbert is preceded in death by his mother LaReta Holyoak Maughan and both sets of grandparents. Gilbert is survived by his father Edwin Maughan of Ronan, MT, brother Kenneth “Ken” Maughan (Tina) of Polson, MT; sister JaRee Howell (Court) of Anchorage, AK; sister Juanita Gullickson (Ron) of Ronan, MT; sister Stacey Brueckmann (Roy) of Pablo, MT and 6 nephews Kenneth, James, Gabriel, Remington, Dale, Chase and 1 niece Kenzington Roze.
