Inez Mae Freshour Pounds, age 103, passed away on September 22, 2025 at home of Dale & Charlie Freshour. Inez was born on September 8, 1922 at home in D'Aste (Charlo), MT to Jesse Evans & Lila (Clem) Evans.
Inez was raised on the family farm in D'Aste, where she attended grade school and then high school at Charlo. She waitressed at the cafe in St. Ignatius, where she met Elmer Freshour. They got married August 20, 1942 and were together 52 years. In 2000, she remarried to Carl Pounds, he passed away in 2011. Inez was first and foremost a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a 4-H leader and worked at school a few years. She was very active in Eastern Star. Inez was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and St Ignatius Senior Citizens Center. She and Tootie Frey owned F&F Fabrics for years, she was a wonderful seamstress. Inez would sew for her children, each Christmas they would get new handmade flannel pj's.
Inez was preceded in death by her two husbands, Elmer and Carl; 4 brothers and 5 sisters; and numerous brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws.
Inez is survived by her children, Evelyn(Mike) Matteson, Carol(Jim) Smith, and Dale(Charlie) Freshour; 8 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister Lila Krantz; brother-in-law, Don Freshour and sister-in-law, Mona Freshour; & her many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11 AM @ United Methodist Church located at top of Post Creek Hill. Burial to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
Family asks that donations in honor of Inez be made to St Ignatius Senior Citizens Center or United Methodist Church in St. Ignatius, MT.
