Jack R. Howlett
Jack Howlett, 70, joined his ancestors on January 21, 2021 in Ronan, Montana as a result of an automobile accident.
A member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Jack was born on May 10, 1950 the first of six children of Steve and Mary Lou (Mc Donald) Howlett in St. Ignatius, Montana.
Jack was educated at the Ursuline school in St. Ignatius. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in Korea. Following his discharge, he worked various jobs on the Flathead Reservation.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son Shawn Whitworth; brothers Daniel Howlett, and Mathew Howlett; sister Karen Hale.
Survivors include his partner Francine Antoine; brother Kevin Howlett (Ronda); sisters Jamie Howlett Shourds, Linda Howlett Zackuse (Billy), Stephanie Howlett Hawkins (Joe); uncle Wyman Mc Donald (Thelma); Aunt Gladys Mc Donald Disney; numerous nieces and nephews; and his companion and best friend his dog Winnie.
Jack suffered from multiple physical issues, but he never let them get him down. He was a kind and gentle man who was very caring and loving with children.
Jack will be laid to rest alongside his brother Matthew at the Snyelmn Cemetery in St. Ignatius, Montana.
At this time with the Covid19 pandemic, services will be limited to a rosary on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius, Montana, and a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Snyelmn Cemetery in St. Ignatius on Monday, January 25, 2021. For those who attend, please be safe; wear a mask and keep a safe distance.
