Jeremiah Bird Obituary

Jeremiah Winterhawk Bird also known as Miah or JB, passed away on August 8th, 2025 in Ronan, MT at the age of 39. Jeremiah was born to Charlie H. Bird and Colleen Marie Wheeler on January 2nd, 1986 at St. Lukes Hospital in Ronan, MT as the first baby of the year. At home he joined siblings Shy Bird, Chuck Bird, and Heather Bird. Later in life he was blessed with more siblings Raven Bird, Summer Patten, Quintina Yazzie, and Shandiin Yazzie.

He was raised and educated on the Flathead Indian Reservation attending schools in Pablo, Ronan, St. Ignatius, and Two Eagle River School in Pablo, MT

Jeremiah worked for the CSKT Tribes in various departments. A ranch hand, driver, and cowboy for the Point of Pines Livestock Association.  He ran a chainsaw since he was a kid working various sawyer jobs throughout his life.  He also enjoyed working on cars, working on small engines, and loved to cook! Everyone loved his famous stew and breakfast scramblers.

His children were the loves of his life, the apple of his eye! Ashton Bird, Berlin Bird, Leilon Bird, Hudson Bird, Aurora Mahkuk-Bird, and Aquill Moran-Bird. Together they loved fishing, video games, wrestling, water balloon fights, golfing with pinecones, dance competition, riding bikes, and their own little made up games like “midnight smokes”.  He would even allow the girls to play spa day with him and paint his nails!  His go to word in greeting his children was sweetheart but often used his silly side with his sons greeting them with “hey toehead” or “huuniiieeeee”. Jeremiah cherished all of his children dearly.

Adventurous, crazy, silly, caring, and free spirited he was. He sure had a way of making everyone laugh or smile whether it was calling you out by saying “hhheeeeey” with his hand on his shoulder, doing a bend and snap pose, making you look in the hole formed by his fingers, or his famous UPSIDE DOWN TWERK he would find a way to light up the room. Jeremiah didn’t have much but would give you the shirt off his back if you were suffering, and what he did have, he was proud of.  Hunting, fishing, hiking, snowboarding, riding horses and motor bikes, shooting pool, are some of the hobbies he enjoyed. Over-all spending time with his children, parents, nephews, nieces, and family was his favorite.

Jeremiah is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie Bird, Sr, Rose Chalwain, and Donna Reum. Aunts, uncles, and family and both sides of the Bird, Wheeler, and Cote families.

He is survived by his parents, Charlie H. Bird and Colleen M. Goseyun. His children Ashton Bird, Berlin Bird, Leilon Bird, Hudson Bird, Aurora Mahkuk-Bird, and Aquill Moran-Bird. Baby mommas, Melissa Bauer and Mare Mahkuk. Sibling Shy Bird, Chuck Bird, Heather Bird, Raven Bird, Summer Patten, Quintina Yazzie, Lacey Swaney, Joe Quequesah, and Sarah Dinnell.  His numerous amount of Uncles, Aunties, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, family, bro’s, and friends.
