Lynda Ann Hammer passed away on July 28, 2021 at St. Lukes Extended Care Facility in Ronan, MT surrounded by family and friends.
Lynda was born February 27, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois to Morlan and Florence Farra. Lynda and her parents moved to Missoula, MT in 1965.
She attended Hellgate High School and attended University of MT and graduated from Salish & Kootenai College in 1984.
Lynda met her high school sweetheart Steve Rodriguez Jr., and on Nov. 26, 1970, they married in St. Ignatius. They had three boys, Steve, Mike and Anthony. They later divorced on Dec. 30, 1982. In June 1982, she met Antoine Hammer. They were married on June 8, 1990 in Pablo and later divorced on Feb 2, 2012. But all those years remained friends. They had four children Salena, Vicky, Andrea and Joe.
Lynda worked as a caretaker at St. Joseph nursing home in Polson and St. Lukes in Ronan, she then worked at Mission Mountain Enterprises (which provides high quality, community-based services to individuals with intellectual disabilities) from 1992-2005. She would travel to Pablo to assist at Whispering Pines. She dedicated her work to serving those with disabilities.
Lynda was always a busy woman. She would hold Halloween parties in Pache for the children, host BBQs at the house, she ran concessions at William K Harvey Elementary in Ronan for men's basketball tournaments. She helped raise money to purchase playground equipment in Pache for the neighborhood kids. She helped run the Crisis Center in Woodcock for families who suffered abuse. She started the Mission Mountain Enterprise Easter Egg hunt in the park, which still continues today.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, Morlan and Florence Farra; her brother, Roger Farra; her previous husbands Steven Rodriguez Jr and Antoine Hammer.
She is survived by her children: Steve, Mike, Anthony (Laurie), Salena (Pat), Victoria, Andrea (Travis) and Joseph. Siblings: Wanda (Terry), David and Shawn (Michelle). Lynda was blessed with twenty grandchildren.
Rosary and wake was held August 3rd at St. Ignatius Community Center. Funeral mass was held 11 AM Thursday, August 4 at St. Ignatius Catholic Mission, followed by cremation.
