Marion Stone Obituary

Marion Kohler Stone, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026 leaving behind a legacy as vibrant and resilient as the many orchids she tended. Born in 1943 in a small village in Germany to Alfred and Frieda Kohler, Marion's early years were shaped by the strength of a family who all shared one home. Though her life was often hard and her health often a struggle, she possessed a rare grace; she masked her own challenges with a smile that never dimmed, ensuring everyone around her felt her warmth.

Marion's life was defined by her pride and her remarkable stories, from hitchhiking in a pink Cadillac with Elvis Presley to her lifelong passion for German football. This connection to her roots was kept alive by her sister-in-law and best friend, Ursula. Their bond was the light of Marion's final days, filled with cherished phone calls, football books, and the arrival of "first spring" flowers sent from her yard in Germany. Whether it was the sweet surprise of Easter chocolates or the steady stream of cards, Ursula's friendship made Marion's world much brighter.

Marion's spirit also found a home in the traditions of her family here. She had a profound love for Native America culture, finding peace on the reservation and immense joy in the energy of the powwows. It is in honor of this connection, and the very special friendship she shared with Terry, that she is being cared for in St. Ignatius.

In her home, Marion was a master of growth, leaving behind fifteen beautiful orchids and a house full of greenery, a testament of her nurturing soul. She was also rarely seen without her faithful "wiener dog" a gift from her cousin that became her constant companion and source of joy. Above all, Marion was the world to her daughter, Christina Marie. Their bond was unique and profound; Christina loved her mother with all her heart to the very end, a deep and unwavering love that stood strong through every season of life.

Marion is survived by:

Her devoted daughter, Christine Marie Shipley; Her cherished sister-in-law and best friend Ursula; dear friend Terry; Grandchildren, Kathy, Nichole, Jason, Daniel and Candy; Great grandchildren: Jacob Casey Huckabee, Kamrin Scott Lane, Kaelle Nichole Lane, Mykal Marie Wallace, Mya Marie Wallace, Mariah Marie Wallace, Da'shay Lynn, Bobby Ann, Oklaynd Rainn Schilling, Theo Beaux Gotti Schilling, Sierra Lynn Dawson, Kamden Skaw and Marley Mienken; Her many beloved cousins and extended family members in Germany.
