Melvin Jay Seaman, 89, passed away on November 16, 2024 at his home in one of the places he loved on his property. He was born to Joseph John & Mary Ellen Seaman on March 27, 1993 in Zurich, MT. He was the oldest of 6 children. He spent his life growing up in Blaine County. During his High School years, he was in the National Guard 3 of those years. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy, where he was stationed at Guantanamo Bay Navy Base and was part of the C.B. After his honorable discharge it didn’t end there. He then did 2 more years in Chinook National Guard. He met the love of his life Marjorie Gardipee and they were married on November 15, 1970. Melvin stepped into the role of being a father and helping Marjorie raise her 8 children from her previous marriage and few years later into the role of being a grandfather, Melvin and Marjorie lived in many different places their last stop and their forever home was on the Flathead Reservation in 1980. They built their property from the ground up. Melvin worked various jobs throughout his life with his last job and many years he retired from Hunts Timber. Melvin was a very avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He loved going fishing with his grandchildren all the way up to his great-great-grandchildren. We can’t leave out and we all know Melvin was very talented craftsmen or you could call him the man of many trades. He could take wood, metal or even junk and make anything out of it. He made many different things and many things for others. You could always hear someone saying, “I bet you Mr. Melvin can make that.” His last project he was working on before his passing was making a snow plow for the front of the 4-wheeler. Melvin enjoyed his family and all of the get togethers. He loved holding the new babies and all the little ones. Could go on forever about all the things he did in his 89 years of his life but will save that for family and friends to share. So please come up and share your stories and your memories.
Melvin is survived by his siblings: Kenneth Seaman, Carol(Jerry) Black, Shirley Twid and Brother-in-law Carol. His children Duane Voise, Janet Voise(Tom), Kathy(Shawn) Cartwright and Beverly Brown. His grandchildren Michelle, Dee Dee, Duane, Danielle, Quinten, Kayla, Brittany, Jordan, Brandon, Morgan, Crystal, Jimmy, Travis and Shawn. 37 great grandchildren with one more on the way. 11 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews and many more family. His and Marjorie’s special granddaughter that they raised Rylla Seaman.
Melvin is proceeded in death by his love of his life Marjorie Seaman, his parents Joseph and Mary Ellen Seaman. Siblings LaRena Mac, Rosalie Parish. Children Robert Voise, Richard Voise, Sheryl Rauscher, Sandy Voise and Diane Voise. Grandchildren Angel Hitchcock and Nico Reid. Brother-in-law Norman and sister-in-law Karen, along with many other loved ones who have passed on.
