Sundance "Dance" HeavyRunner passed away at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Montana on Saturday, February 19th due to lengthy health complications. He was 46 years old.
Sundance was born to Eugene HeavyRunner Jr. and Maria Charlo in Missoula on November 19th, 1976. He was a member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes and the Blackfeet Nation. His Blackfeet name was "Okan"
Sundance, which was given to him by his paternal grandfather Eugene HeavyRunner Sr.
Sundance grew up in several communities that includes Browning, Missoula, and Arlee, Montana. He attended school in all of these communities and through common bonds of community and camaraderie, Sundance created a large circle of lifelong friendships with whom he kept in contact with as much as possible. Sundance was a traveler who lived and worked in Helena, Butte and Missoula.
Survivors include his loving wife Angela, his siblings Jason HeavyRunner, Casey HeavyRunner, Dayna Bullshields and Eugene HeavyRunner III; his son Isaac and siblings; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and grandmother Gertrude HeavyRunner. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene HeavyRunner Jr. and mother Maria Charlo.
Rosary services will be held at the Arlee Community Center on Thursday, February 24th at 8 pm and funeral services on Friday, February 25th at
11 am in Arlee, MT
