“Natooyii Siipistoo” Holy Owl

Born April 24, 1965 to Bernard and JoAnne StGoddard, Nelse journeyed home to join his loved ones in heaven on January 15, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Supported by all the prayers and the Grace of God, Nelse courageously fought a battle with cancer for the past 6 years. Nelse with his siblings, (Book and Mary Jo) were raised at the family ranch on Little Badger Creek, south of Browning. Nelse attended Heart Butte School and Browning High School where he graduated in 1983.

As a young man Nelse dedicated his life pursuit to ranching. He lived his dream for over 50 years raising cattle and horses, building a business and teaching his kids a way of life. Nelse married Stacey Brown in 1990, they later divorced. Together they had two children, Jonathan Douglas and Shelsey Lynnae.

Nelse worked in various positions at the Bureau of Indian Affairs beginning in 1997. It was at work where Nelse met his second wife, Rose Juneau. Rose had one son- Philip Lawrence. In 2009 Nelse and Rose joined in marriage at their home on Little Badger Creek. Together they have two daughters, Hannah Jae and Natalee Mae.

Following in the footsteps of his grandpa, dad, uncle and cousins- Nelse was elected to the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council and served until 2018 when he retired and filled his time with ranching, traveling, watching rodeo, golfing, attending the girls’ sporting events. Nelse’s legacy will live on in his children, each of them inherited qualities from their dad.

Survived by his wife, Rose StGoddard of Browning, Mt; children Jonathan (Jonnalea), Shelsey (Wil), Philip (Kayla), Hannah, and Natalee.

Grandchildren: Kasey Collins StGoddard, Layla Rose, Rylea, and Brianna.

Parents: Bernard StGoddardSiblings: Book (Verna), Mary (Sam) In-laws: Jeannie Juneau, Mike (Steph) Nieces & Nephews: Ty Collins, Josa, Adria, Tucker, Makayla, Eric, Ty Micheal, Lily, Paydin, Presley, Tylee, Shania, Caidence.

Aunts & uncles: Dolly Stone, Charlene Blackman, Gene Blackman, Galen Blackman Sr.

 Extended Family: numerous relatives including Breakers, Doores, Big Snakes from Canada. Preceded in death by his mother, JoAnne StGoddard, many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who greeted him joyfully in paradise.

 Nelse was a humble man, long known for his kindness, sense of humor, laugh and the best smile on the crick, he made made many friends through the years whom he cherished.
